The Word of God is not just His written word, but it is living and active (v. 12). By reading the Word aloud, it has the ability to cut to the heart of a matter, for an individual as well as the church as a whole. And like a double-edged sword everything is divided exactly, separted smartly and easily. The thoughts and attitudes are either right or wrong. There is no gray area when God judges the heart. We live in a world where gray area abounds. And since we are all human, we may see ar even create gray areas to live in. But God knows there is black and white. If it is not white, then it is black, if not light, then darkness.

But in our dealings with one another, especially as husband and wife, we must be gracious. Let God do the judging and dividing, through His Word and the Spirit.

"12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account."
Hebrews 4:12-13  (NIV)
